YIKES! TAYLOR SWIFT ENDORSES HARRIS WHILE MAHOMES’ WIFE LIKES TRUMP
Might this be the end of the Chiefs — or maybe not — when 283 million followers read an ode to Kamala, while Brittany loves Trump’s take on blocking the border and keeping “men out of women’s sports”?
Among the various barbs and snorts — none of which reflect well on who wins our presidency — Donald Trump said to Kamala Harris: “Run, spot, run.”
And Harris said to Trump: Don’t have a “friendship with what is known to be a dictator who would eat you for lunch.”
And Trump said to Harris: “Wait a minute, I'm talking now, if you don't mind, please. Does that sound familiar?”
And Harris said to Trump: “Donald Trump was fired by 81 million people.”
And Trump said to Harris: “She's going to my philosophy now. In fact, I was going to send her a MAGA hat."
And Harris said to Trump: “He talks about fictional characters like Hannibal Lecter.”
Yet, what intrigued me more than Trump’s anger and Harris’ giggles Tuesday night was a post-debate Instagram posting by the “Childless Cat Lady.” She held a cat and doesn’t have a child, at least not yet, and Taylor Swift made it known immediately to her 283 million followers that she is endorsing Harris.
Which counters the opinion of Brittany Mahomes, whose husband, Patrick, is the megastar quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. He throws the football to tight end Travis Kelce, who is entering his second year of dating Swift. Might this be the human spillage that ends the team’s hopes of winning a third straight Super Bowl? Sorry, I must ask, along with most folks in the National Football League.
Not long ago, Brittany liked an Instagram post from Trump, who wrote about sealing the border and keeping “men out of women’s sports.” He replied: “Thank you to the beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me,” mentioning that “MAGA is the greatest and most powerful political movement in the history of our now failing country.” The political strangle didn’t stop Swift from attending the home opener last Thursday in Kansas City, after which the quartet wound up in New York, where they attended the U.S. Open men’s tennis final Sunday afternoon and ate dinner at Meduza Mediterrania in the Meatpacking District. At one point, Taylor and Brittany hugged.
Brittany hasn’t said much publicly about Trump. But Taylor has fired high, wanting Swifties to vote for Harris. Didn’t she once write “we will vote you out” to Trump? This was stronger, from a musical luminary who could mean more on Election Night than any celebrity in American history.
Her commentary was longer than her songs.
“Like many of you, I watched the debate. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country,” Swift wrote.
“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.
“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.”
Voicing “love and hope,” she signed off as the Childless Cat Lady.
The Chiefs have overcome internal hardships since beating San Francisco in the championship game. But this? Patrick Mahomes always has credited Andy Reid for calming the ship, saying, “He’s the best. Obviously, he’s one of the best coaches of all time.” They are happy to be 1-0 and will face the following teams: Cincinnati, Atlanta, the Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Tampa Bay.
Then comes Nov. 5.
I will immediately report how many times Kelce has been targeted with passes. And if the record includes three losses, you’ll see terrible references to “Bad Blood,” unless they manage again to shake it off. Preferably, Swift would have gone quietly to the polls and said nothing.
In the end, she runs the country. Let’s see if she runs the Chiefs.
